AUTHORSHIP POLICY
All contributing authors to the International Journal of Humanities, Social and Economic Studies are required to comply with the terms, conditions, and procedures outlined below:
-
Authorship Criteria
Classifying any participant in publishing in the International Journal of Humanities, Social and Economic Studies as an author requires proving their clear and justified scientific contribution in the submitted research, starting from identifying the research problem, structuring the research, to defining the research methodology and enriching discussions and conclusions. The author must have a clear scientific and research contribution in drafting the final version, reviewing it, and approving it. Accordingly, research participation is essential; merely providing a secondary technical service, paid or unpaid (such as translation or linguistic proofreading), does not qualify the participant to be listed as an author; however, this enables them to include their contribution in the acknowledgment section dedicated to that in the published research.
All scientific research submitted for publication by two or more researchers requires reviewing the final version and approval by all participating authors before publication. The corresponding/main author must ensure that all participants comply with the authorship terms and criteria mentioned above, which are consistent with the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines. -
Declarations in the Published Article
Contributors not qualified for authorship should be mentioned/acknowledged in the designated acknowledgment section in the published research; i.e., in the first footnote of the article.
All sources of financial support obtained through grants or any other means must be accurately stated, including the funding institution or affiliation, grant number, date, and country.
Authors whose research is based on theses (Master’s or Doctorate) must indicate—in the first footnote of the submitted research—that the original research is a Master’s or Doctorate thesis, mentioning: the student’s name, thesis title, degree obtained, granting university/institution, date, and electronic link to the thesis (if available).
Authors of translated research must obtain written permission from the original publisher and the author of the translated article, and they must acknowledge the original publisher in the first footnotes of the research, appropriately citing the original article’s details. -
Authorship Order and Eligibility
Authors must agree among themselves on the order of their names in the published article, considering their efforts and actual contributions to the research. Early communication and written agreement on the authorship order is essential to maintain a healthy and transparent research environment among authors; this matter should be reviewed in the final stage before submitting the article in its final form for publication.
The main author: the main author is the study leader who has contributed and exerted more effort compared to other authors.
The corresponding author: may be the main author or another participating author.
Participating authors: all authors with actual contributions to the submitted research must meet the authorship criteria.
Authors with no actual contribution or limited contribution, such as honorary authors, are not qualified to be named as authors.
Supervisors of theses (Master’s or Doctorate) are not qualified to be named as authors unless they have a clear, approved research contribution and qualitative addition by the student, such as developing and rephrasing the research paper. In this case, the supervisor can be named only as a participating author and is not eligible to be the main author. -
Updates on Authorship Participation
All participating authors must approve the participating names and their order according to their contributions in the final version submitted to the International Journal of Humanities, Social and Economic Studies and according to the “Author Declaration and Undertaking Form.” Only the main author has the right to request any changes to author names during the editing stages by officially/written contacting the journal’s Editor-in-Chief. The letter must include: a) reasons for adding, removing, or reordering author names; b) updated signed author declaration forms signed by all participating authors. No changes regarding this are allowed after publication, unless there are unavoidable reasons such as a request by the authors’ institution with stated justification. -
Conflict of Interest
Since the International Journal of Humanities, Social and Economic Studies is committed to publishing research objectively and transparently, contributing authors must confirm no conflict of interest affecting the objectivity of results, data accuracy, analyses, discussions, and conclusions in the submitted paper by completing and signing the “Declaration and Undertaking Form” (see author forms).
Conflicts of interest include any financial or moral relationships that compromise the journal’s neutrality. Verifying absence of conflicts ensures academic integrity and avoids undue bias or misinformation.
Examples include:
-
Receiving any financial amount from an organization or individual related to the subject.
-
Ownership of shares in organizations directly linked to the topic.
-
Receiving grants or funding.
-
Membership in relevant boards.
-
Accepting gifts.
-
Any other relationships that impede neutrality (such as fellowship, family, mentor, supervisor, or former student).
-
Political, religious, ideological, or commercial interests.
-
Research Integrity
Plagiarism takes many forms, from “plagiarizing” another author’s paper, copying large parts or rephrasing it (without citing or attributing), to using others’ research results. Plagiarism in all forms is unacceptable and entails legal procedures.
Authors pledge that submitted works are original and free of any plagiarism.
If any part of the submitted research content was previously published in any form, the author must notify the International Journal of Humanities, Social and Economic Studies; the journal reserves the right to accept or reject the work. The author pledges to obtain permission and pay any required fees.
The journal checks any suspicious similarity or a citation percentage higher than 15% by subjecting all submissions to similarity and plagiarism detection software such as iThenticate or others. -
Editorial Stages
Publication requests undergo initial review to ensure file completeness and compliance with the author guide; articles are screened by the journal’s editorial team using iThenticate or other software. Articles initially evaluated by the editorial board that do not comply with the journal’s topics or formal and research requirements are rejected at this initial stage.
Within two weeks of initial evaluation, authors are notified of the result. Research passing the initial stage is sent for double-blind peer review by two specialized referees. Authors then await referee feedback, which may take about two months.
The journal is committed to selecting external referees with high expertise and scientific standing from leading regional universities to improve research quality. Due to its leading scientific status, the journal attracts top academic reviewers who provide detailed, specialized, and developed feedback. Each paper is reviewed by at least two referees for objective, critical, and transparent review. If the first two reports conflict, a third referee is selected.
Most often, minor or major revisions are recommended, or rejection is recommended; rarely are articles accepted without changes. Authors must seriously implement referees’ suggestions and exert sufficient effort to make required modifications. Authors are given 10 days to two weeks to review; for substantial revisions, a longer period up to one and a half months may be granted. Authors must submit a report clarifying how referee comments were addressed, and if not, provide convincing justifications using the “Author Response to Reviewer Comments Form.” A revised copy highlighting changes in the manuscript must be submitted. For substantial revisions, the journal returns the paper to the same referees for evaluating compliance with the requested modifications.
The Editor-in-Chief and the advisory board have the final recommendation authority on acceptance or rejection based on referee opinions and the revised manuscript evaluation.
Authors are notified of the final decision within two to three months maximum from submission date, depending on the complexity of editorial reviews, author response, and referee availability. -
Production and Publication Stages
Accepted research is scheduled for production and publication according to peer review dates, diversity of authors, and research topics in the issues prepared by the authorized publishing house. Then, research undergoes linguistic review and proofreading before sending revised copies to authors for final review before design and publication. No additional modification requests will be accepted after this stage, except in unavoidable cases. -
Copyrights
The author(s) grant the journal and publisher a license to publish, display, store, copy, and reuse content under the Creative Commons License: CC BY-NC 4.0 (Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International).

To deposit a copy of the published research in a non-commercial institutional repository.
-
Open Access Publishing Model
In line with the journal’s vision to provide innovative, high-quality research publications to the largest possible readership to support research excellence and local/regional economic growth, the journal charges symbolic fees from authors to cover publication and documentation costs.
The journal welcomes voluntary institutional funding to enhance its growth and sustainability. -
Handling Publication Ethics Violations
Duplicate or simultaneous submission:
Authors must not publish research in more than one journal. Submitting the same research to multiple journals simultaneously is unethical and unacceptable to the journal and publisher, who will follow procedures with the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) to correct or retract published work.
Author acknowledgment of significant errors:
If the author discovers a major error or inaccuracy in published work, they must notify the journal editor or publisher immediately and cooperate to retract or correct the paper.
Publisher initiative in correction or retraction:
If the editor or publisher learns from a third party or other sources that the published work contains a major error, fraudulent publication, or plagiarism, the journal and publisher shall take procedures as per COPE to correct or retract the article, including immediate publication of the corrected version or, in worst cases, full retraction.
The editors take necessary measures when facing ethical issues regarding submissions or published papers. All reported ethical breaches will be considered, even if discovered years after publication. -
Article Withdrawal Procedures
The journal expects authors to comply with best publication ethics practices and considers authors partners in the publication process. Authors are expected to respect the time, resources, and efforts of the editorial team in reviewing and managing submissions and adhere to peer review timelines.
Unethical withdrawal:
Withdrawal is allowed only for unavoidable urgent reasons. If the author withdraws during peer review or after (early publication or before publishing), a written justification letter signed by all authors must be submitted to the Editor-in-Chief.
The author(s) must not assume the work has been withdrawn until they receive a written notice including any financial compensation, estimated per case to cover costs.
If authors do not respond to editorial communications after several reminders at any publication stage, the journal reserves the right to note the authors’ behavior and manuscript content without further author consent and disclaims responsibility for consequences. -
Accepted withdrawal:
Authors are allowed to withdraw without financial penalty if the request is made during the initial submission stage (within the first week after submission).
