PUBLICATION ETHICS
Scientific Publishing Ethics
The publishing house responsible, in close collaboration with the editors of the International Journal of Humanities, Social, and Economic Studies, works intensively to formulate policies and procedures that support this mission, in accordance with the core principles and practices of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), as outlined below.
- Commitment of the International Journal of Humanities, Social, and Economic Studies to Research Ethics
The International Journal of Humanities, Social, and Economic Studies is committed to maintaining the highest ethical standards throughout all editorial stages, from manuscript submission to acceptance for publication, to ensure research integrity and the value and impact of scientific publications.
Accordingly, the journal has developed detailed publishing policies and procedures aligned with international publishing standards, available in Arabic, English, and French, which apply to all participants in the publishing process including authors, reviewers, and editors.
By promoting impactful scientific research, the journal aspires to be a leading publication nationally, regionally, and internationally in humanities, social, and economic sciences, striving to advance sustainable social and economic development.
- Research Ethics Violations
The International Journal of Humanities, Social, and Economic Studies monitors the following ethical violations by any participants in the publication process, including authors, reviewers, and editors, to prevent them to the greatest extent possible and take necessary measures, including:
- Plagiarism and Academic Misconduct
Preventing plagiarism and academic misconduct is essential to ensuring scientific and academic integrity. All submissions are screened using iThenticate software to detect and prevent plagiarism. Plagiarism includes misuse of published research, unauthorized reuse of others’ work or intellectual content without permission or proper citation. Forms include self-plagiarism and translation plagiarism. Authors are required to sign an Author Declaration and Undertaking form upon submission. Verified plagiarism or misuse leads to immediate corrective actions. - Duplicate Publication
Splitting one large study into multiple smaller ones or substantially rephrasing similar studies by the same author is unacceptable and harms scientific publishing integrity. - Failure to Disclose Sources and References
Includes all forms of plagiarism or intentional/unintentional failure to cite sources. Any statement, comment, or discussion previously published must be appropriately cited. - Inappropriate Authorship Attribution
Includes omitting contributors, adding unauthorized authors, honorary authorship, ghost authorship, incorrect author order, or use of pseudonyms. - Failure to Obtain Institutional and Ethical Approvals
Lack of necessary institutional and ethical approvals imposed by institutions or funding bodies, including conflicts of interest and confidentiality issues. - Data Fabrication or Falsification
Altering, omitting, or distorting data to serve personal goals, misleadingly promoting or diminishing others’ work. - Bias in Any Form
Explicit or implicit favoritism or hostility toward particular intellectual schools, ideologies, politics, or personal views that misrepresent scientific integrity. - Use of Offensive Language
Malicious use of logical fallacies, inflammatory or offensive language aimed at discrediting others. - Discrimination
Preferential treatment based on race, gender, age, marital or parental status, ethnicity, nationality, or political philosophy. - Undisclosed Errors or Corrections
Failure to report discovered research errors before or after publication, affecting corrections or retractions. - Compliance of All Participants with Ethical Standards
